MY BEAUTIFUL FACE
This is a beautiful and evocative piece that celebrates authenticity and freedom. It explores the “original face”—a pure, unspoiled self—while acknowledging that at different times and in different situations, we all show more than one face. The poem moves gracefully through images of effortless harmony with nature, inner clarity, and self-possession. Its closing “now” anchors the experience in the present, a reminder of the timeless, unbounded potential within each of us.
my original face
to the world—
at once glistening, unbound by precepts,
untrained, warm, unmarked.
independent,
moving freely,
wanting nothing,
only searching
for reflected truth.
clear, matterless,
accountable to unknown souls,
yet to no one.
Where rejection and despondency
are unknown to my eyes.
I will not be denied or deceived.
I will be absolute,
fulfilling only myself.
with clarity I move effortlessly,
propelled by wind,
enlightened by sun,
nourished by nature’s timeless spirit.
unbound by hate,
rising beyond transcendence,
defying gravity—
only to be pulled
and joyfully contorted,
to no end,
no beginning.
now.
